"Iranian-Saudi Relations and Prospects for Gulf Peace"

Banafsheh Keynoush, Ph.D., examined the prospects for peace in the Persian Gulf region. She presented on the foreign relations of the region’s two most powerful states, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Her presentation spanned the period from the Gulf War to the present, with a focus on Middle East foreign relations, security issues and international law. 

Keynoush has twenty years of professional experience as a Farsi and English simultaneous interpreter.  She has served as a translator for three Iranian presidents.  Since 2004, Keynoush has served as translator to Nobel Laureate Shirin Ebadi for her numerous speaking and book tour engagements in North America.  She is currently a CNN Farsi-English interpreter. In her native Iran, Keynoush consulted for a number of non-governmental organizations on human rights, women’s issues and refugee rights. Keynoush has translated a book written by Ebadi on refugee law.
