Jamie HillRancho Bernardo High SchoolChildren in Armed Conflict Jamie Hill is a Senior at Rancho Bernardo High School. She is active in the chamber and symphony orchestras, Speech and Debate, and the California Scholarship Federation. Additionally, Jamie founded the Non- Violence Open Forum. Outside of school, she is a member of the National Charity League and volunteers at Pomerado Hospital in Poway. She loves music, playing both the violin and piano. She is very active in her community and enjoys working on social issues and achieving justice in her community. This summer, her WorldLink topic addresses refugee children and children in armed conflicts. She hopes to pursue a career in international law.
Zealan HooverBishop's SchoolForced Labor of Children Zealan Hoover is sophomore at the Bishops School in La Jolla, California. He is an avid water polo player ande enjoys spending his time with friends and volunteering. He was awarded the Presidential Community Service Award in 2005 for completing over one hundred hours of community service. Zealan became a WorldLink intern to help others and to learn more about the complexity of global issues. He looks forward to being able to share his research with other students in Southern California and Baja.
Natalie LintonHigh Tech HighDiscrimination against the Girl Child Natalie Linton is a junior at High Tech High School in San Diego. As an active participant and delegate in Model United Nations she has been able to expand her interest in International Relations. She has attended the 2003 and 2004 WorldLink Conferences, and is pleased to have the opportunity to help create the WorldLink Reader as a summer intern. Natalie's ultimate goal is to travel the world.
Julie NaBishop's SchoolExploitation of Children After a history project in her Conflict Resolution course at the Bishop's School, Julie Na, a tenth grader, became very interested in global affairs. Her newfound interest motivated her to become a WorldLink summer intern. Julie juggled her summer internship with a volunteer trip to Khotdongnae, Korea where she worked in an orphanage for several weeks. She hopes to participate in another summer volunteer program next year in Africa.
Harin SongLa Jolla High SchoolPolicy Analysis (National and International) of Right of the Child Harin Song, a senior at La Jolla High School, first became interested in foreign affairs during her involvement with the Model United Nations program. This experience led her to become a "Foreign Extemporaneous Speaker" in Speech and Debate. Harin has been involved with WorldLink since she was in junior high school; at the 7th and 8th Annual Youth Town Meetings, she gave the welcome speech to the delegates and speakers. Harin's other interests include running, singing, playing the piano, and seeing movies with her friends.
Sarah WrightLa Jolla High SchoolTrafficking of Children Sarah Wright is a sophomore at La Jolla High School where she is a participant in the seminar/independent study program, which emphasizes college-level English and Social Studies subjects. Among her many goals, Sarah hopes to attend Columbia University after a year of traveling the globe and working on international human rights issues. She has completed two years of Spanish classes and is familiar with French, German and Italian. Sarah's main interests are the performing arts, human rights, and social justice.
